Them Fine Brown Sisters

52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks | Week 10: Siblings

I'm late to the 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks party (created by genealogist, Amy Johnson Crow), but I'm excited to get started! This week's theme is "Siblings" – why not make it about my grandmother and her sisters, who are the featured photo in the banner of my blog!

My maternal grandmother, Cleone "Honey" (Brown) Richardson, was the fourth of five daughters born to John B. Brown and Geneva (Macklin) Brown. Her sisters' names are (in order of birth): Leona, Helen, Johnetta and Wanda. They were women of faith, love, laughter, strength, resilience, and so much more.

I recall a man of the cloth (who grew up with them) referring to them as "them FINE Brown sisters" while delivering the eulogy at my Aunt Wanda's funeral service! Smh... I wish y'all could've seen the look on our faces when he said that.

All five of these incredible women have now passed on and words cannot express how much they are missed. 🌹
